What's in your window? Beautifying and activating local Democratic Party Headquarters

What does your local Democratic Party headquarters look like? Does the outside window look inviting? Does it transmit important information, and, more importantly, convey important, sticky messages to people who are not currently active Democrats?

If the answer is yes, please share your great ideas; if the answer is no, maybe the smart, generous people here on Daily Kos can help.

Most of us are active in our local Democratic Party. Most of these parties have headquarters with windows that show on the public space. I think we need to share information on the best use of these windows during the campaign.

In our own local Democratic Party headquarters window, we have a large screen television, an LED light display, and pictures of current candidates and Democratic office holders.

We’ve used the LED light display to transmit information about upcoming events, current candidates, and some slogans. We’ve used the television for a slide show of political cartoons, pictures of candidates, and text and graph information.

Let’s share!

I’d like to start a group that will share the best ideas for messages, the best pictures and cartoons, and so on for the slideshows, as well as good pictures for display windows, pithy messages for display boards and so on.  Visual information can be enormously impactful and we can reach a wide audience.

If such a group already exists, I’d love to know. I contacted the national Democratic Party in the past for help and received no response. I do hope that my fellow Kossaks can join together.

Let me say, that a lot of the material already exists on Daily Kos (and elsewhere), but it may exist in formats that are not friendly for slideshows, or which fair use would preclude display without the author’s permission. A great example of what I am talking about can be found in Tom Tomorrow’s cartoon today; I would envision this cartoon as a series of images, panel by panel that would play out at approximately 15 second intervals.

Further, I’d like to know if the folks here would like to make this a larger group, say, managers of local Democratic party headquarters. I should also add, that the LED display and the slide show often go with us to public events such as the county fair and other festivals at which our party has booths.

Please let me know! Is there already such a group, or is there interest in starting one?  Share your brilliant ideas, valuable experiences: help us all elect better Democrats.
