Ayn Rand's cold, dead hand has held the controls too long. It's time for a new mythology to replace Atlas Shrugged and the rest of the hogwash that dripped from her venomous pen.
For the Win, Cory Doctorow's novel is, I think, exactly what is needed. I recommend it to all Kossacks, and suggest you turn young people on to the book. It's smart, hip, action-packed, and the characters are sympathetic and not entirely predictable. While it's intended as young adult to adult fiction, I enjoyed it immensely. I'm not a gamer, a disaffected Orange County teen, an Asian gold-farmer, or union organizer--but I felt like all the above every moment I spent in the world created by Doctorow.
You can even download it for free, and make Ayn Rand spin in her grave. I listened to the book, and exercised longer than I would have, because I could not stop the story.
Check out the links, and consider getting the book for yourself, or for some person in your life. It will be far better for their emotional and mental development than anything Ayn Rand created.
